Open Call: Heritage for Global Challenges artist/s-in-residence
Duration: October 2024 – January 2025
Contract Fee: £4000 + materials tbd

The Heritage for Global Challenges Research Centre (HGCRC) is seeking an artist or artists-in-residence for the period of October 2024 – January 2025. The artist/s-in-residence will be invited to engage with the topics of the research centre, and to develop work that responds to the centre’s Research Axes and projects situated within these.

We are seeking an artist working in any medium, with an interest in heritage, community and cultural practice. Skills and experience that may be of particular relevance include, but are not limited to:

  • Media / Visual / Sonic Arts
  • Socially-Engaged / Participatory Practices
  • Craft-Making
  • Eco-Art / Bioart
  • Sensory Storytelling
  • Sculpture / Object-Based Work

The commission will run from: October 2024 – January 2025

Fees and Support
The commission is £4,000, subject to tax and national insurance. 

The rate of pay is worked out according to the Artist Union guidelines for early- to mid-career artists, and supposes that the artist will work the equivalent of 1-2 days a week on the project over the residency period (to be negotiated).
